The topic I would like to discuss in today’s post questions the importance of restaurant location in today’s society. When restaurants are looking for a location to set up shop, they are typically looking for the most visible location. This may have been the most important aspect of a restaurant. People want to go eat at restaurants that they have seen before right? Well I have reason to believe that this aspect of restaurant entrepreneurship is changing as time goes on. I was thinking the other day, and I came to the conclusion that my favorite places to eat doesn’t include Buffalo Wild Wings, McDonalds, Olive Garden, or any other well known restaurants. They are all “hole in the walls”, meaning that they are small hidden restaurants usually family owned operated. My favorite restaurants have food that is just as good, if not better, than the competing popular chains we all have come to know so well. Thinking about it some more, I realized that these smaller restaurants were just as busy as the popular chains. This made me wonder. Why do people prefer these smaller restaurants remain just as popular as the bigger ones in spite of their location and how do people come across them and decide to go? I did some investigating and made the observation that the more time passes, the more people use technology to find places to eat. People can post reviews on apps and tell others where the “good food is at”. That is how I have come to find all of my favorite restaurants thus being connected to social technology is more important than location in the modern day.
As i stated in my “about me” page, I am a live to eat (rather than an eat to live) type of guy. Food is practically what I live for because I love the taste of it, the smell of it, the memories of the people I shared a meal with, and pretty much everything else about it. I would really like to discuss more about the restaurants rather than its food. These topics could include anything from the waiter/waitress services to how clean the restrooms are. I will be bringing up topics about restaurants that the average person may not have thought about before. These topics are characteristics that can make or break a restaurant that may not be noticeable unless looked for. Another subject I will be discussing in this blog are the differences in restaurants in different areas, cities, and countries. I have done a lot of traveling in my lifetime and cannot wait to share these experiences in my blog. Another characteristic about myself that has to do with food is the fact that I am an athlete and have to watch what I eat. I will be discussing the best types of restaurant to go to when one is trying to stay fit. The things I mentioned here are only a handful of the types of discussion I will be going over regarding restaurants and I cannot wait to get to them all.
